Over these 32 years, Alverstoke House has integrated into the local community providing care for many local residents and a lot of our current residents are through referral. We have built up an excellent reputation in the local area.
When Abbey Homes bought the National Children's Home site soon after for development into housing it was decided the two buildings were too recently built to be knocked down so the Council looked for somebody to buy the buildings who wanted to run a business which would benefit the local area and to local services.
Mrs Janet Hudson R.G.N, R.M. bought the buildings converting them for use as a nursing home. Alverstoke House Nursing Home opened in 1985 originally as two buildings one offering residential care the other nursing care.
